Beatriz Uribe is a marine biologist from Nicholls State University (Louisiana, USA). She worked professionally in aquaculture, zoobreeding, and pigment research for the graphic arts industry. In 1996, she began her artistic practice under the guidance of artist Luis Fernando Escobar in Medellín. Her work is centered on hand embroidery, where she employs silk and cotton threads, using antique linen and cotton textiles as supports. Her compositions integrate formal structures, figurative fragments, signs, animals, and symbolic forms as a reflection of human experience.
She participated in the exhibition ‘Diseño, artes y oficios’ (UPB, 1997). ‘Puntada sin dedal’ is her first solo exhibition.
