Starting with a solo show of Gregorio Cuartas (Colombia, 1938), whose acrylic paintings of isolated, spare minimal buildings in austere abstract landscapes are imbued with a metaphysical mood, we propose a contrast with the dense urbanscapes of Randenko Milak (Yugoslavia, 1980), with recent pieces that review our incessant production of artificially-built worlds that highlight the idea of the anthroposphere. In addition to the above, we introduce Julián Burgos (Colombia, 1976), who has a long engagement with the French classical tradition, focusing in his recent work on animals, and Priscilla González (Costa Rica, 1981), who refers to the production waste cycles related to contemporary society fixated on instant gratification.

Together, these artists articulate a vision that is both critical and hopeful: one that acknowledges the profound impact of human agency on the world while opening space for dialogue, reflection, and the imagination of alternative futures.
