INTERROGATED LANDSCAPE

A group of artists made up of Julian Burgos, Radenko Milak, Andrés Monzón, Jeison Sierra and Ana María Velásquez investigate the relational construction of landscape. Whether built, intervened or modified by man, they reveal the cultural complexity of the present. Questioning the landscape of the past, the future or the planetary, or the same cultural landscape in which we are inserted, illuminates the material, social and ecological relationships of our time.

Jeison Sierra makes a dreamlike reflection on his childhood landscapes in Bajo Cauca, affected by the illegal exploitation of gold, forced displacement and the struggle for control of the territory.

Julián Burgos continues his study of the baroque landscape and its insertion into a contemporary aesthetic. Continuing with the formal aspects of the landscape, Andrés Monzón presents his abstract sculptures that evoke the basic forms of nature. Finally, Ana María Velázquez brings her buzzards to prowl next to the fantastic visions of Radenko Milak.

Our understanding of the symbiotic interactions between culture and landscape are vital to understanding the illuminating or tragic consequences of our relationship with the natural world, to which we belong.
