

Beatriz González (Bucaramanga, 1932) has developed, and continues to develop, a prolific artistic and intellectual career. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally for more than six decades and is part of collections such as the Tate Modern, MOMA, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Banco de la República Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, among others.
Parallel to her artistic practice, González has worked as a curator, art historian, and educator. She was founder and director of the Education Department of the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá, (1970-1983). She served as Chief Curator of the National Museum of Colombia (1989-2004) and as a curator, researcher and member of the Plastic Arts committee of the Bank of the Republic since 1985. Since 1977 she has worked on research on museology, art history and caricature .
Among some of her distinctions is the Honoris Causa title of Master of Fine Arts awarded in 2000 by the University of Antioquia. In 2006, she received the Life and Work award granted by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia and in 2020 the degree Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of the Andes, Colombia.
